How could they do that?

I just saw "Death Takes the Mother" on Chiller last night. How could they kill Cassie? She's the star of the show.

reply

She wanted out.

reply

If she wanted out then they should have either recast, or cancelled the show. It makes no sense to continue the series without the main character.

reply

If you think you are surprised now, wait and see.

reply

Well, if they kill off Malachi, Azazeal, or Thelma I don't really care because the show could go on without them.

reply

I meant the thing doesn't even have an ending, which i'm sure you already know.

reply

Oh yes, I saw that. That was the DUMBEST episode..."The Showdown". In fact, I made a thread called "Question about The Showdown". Check it out and see what I had to say.

reply

They did kill Thelma. In the first episode.

reply

I know she died in the first episode, but she hung around as a ghost. I meant if they got rid of the character like they did with Cassie I wouldn't care.

reply

Yeah I never got why she left either. I mean, usually actors sign like 5 year contracts so they can't just "leave" whenever they feel like it. Anyway, I'm on season 2 now and actually like the character of Ella, but it does feel weird without Cassie.

reply

While in America actors have to sign 5 - 7 year contracts when they join a TV show, in the UK it's standard practice to sign for one season at a time. Having starred in the first season of Hex, Christina Cole didn't want to appear in the second, though she did agree to guest-star in three episodes so Cassie could be written out properly.

Even tho i liked Cassie, watching season 2 i realised i didn't miss her like i thought i would. The main reason was definitely Leon, who became my favorite character on season 2.

reply

I liked Cassie and helped getting the series started, but she wouldn't have continued working as a good protagonist, she was very weakly motivated and she wasn't in danger - Azazeal loves her and the Nephilim wouldn't kill her. Ella is a much more interesting protagonist because she was proactive and in danger.
Killing her off did surprise me but it was a blessing in disguise and "Death Takes the Mother" is my favourite episode.
