I finally got to see this show for the first time last night...I'm still in pain from laughing so hard, I think I injured something.

It's definitely one of the best shows I've seen. Funny, smart and different.

Nope.. there are things out there much better.. at the end I didn't care one bit for any of the characters.. it just went cartoon..

shareyeah it was just surreal and OTT without being particularly clever or funny i thought. and it fet like there was a lot of nonsensical filler just to fill up the hour (what comedy show goes for an hour anyway? trim the eps down to 30 minutes and it would work a lot better IMO).
you can do surreal/stupid comedy and and still be incredibly clever and funny (black books/IT crowd), but i just couldnt get into it. i think too many characters doesnt help as well, having a small core group of personalities works better in most cases. look at fawlty towers, BB, IT crowd, seinfeld etc. too many charcters, episodes too long, and too surreal without being particularly funny.
thats just my opinion, my friend loves it and lent me the dvds, but it just wasnt my cup of tea.

Green Wing may rank as my all-time favorite comedy series. I can't understand why BBC America would run the first series and not the second and Christmas special. I'd think there'd surely be an audience in the states that would go crazy for this show if there was proper promotion to allow people to find it.
PLEASE release this series on Region 1 discs in the States!!!
