I've noticed that Diego says a saying a lot (in Spanish) that sounds something like "a diva de" (what he says before he opens the backpack)and I was just wondering if anyone knew what he was saying and what it meant. Not being able to figure it out is bugging the crap outta me :) Thanks!

I believe he's saying "activate" (pronounce Ac-tee-va-tay) which I believe is just a form of Activar for activate. He says it when it's time to activate rescue pack.

That reminds of the infamous "Pooping iguana" episode. Besides its obvious quirks, we couldn't help noticing the way these kids pronounced "festival." I don't know what strictly accurate, or even how the average Spanish-speaking person would say it in conversation, but I have to believe they don't say, "fest-ee-VAL" the way these kids did. If I could make that "VAL" bigger, I would... these aren't kids with a trace of an accent (to us in the States, anyway) yet here they are saying, "We won't have any strawberries for the strawberry fest-ee-VAAAL!" in their most shrill, ear splitting voices. Drove us nuts (my 11-year-old and I, while watching the toddler watch her favorite show).
You make a good point, too, about the general pronunciation. I thought that Diego and Dora both could take better advantage of their popularity to teach this properly. I live in Southern California and I would love to have a show that could teach my kids a little more conversational Spanish... opportunities will come up for them to use it here. I've even heard my two youngest on occasion saying the Spanish words from the shows... wrong. My son was even saying "Cuidado" which could come in handy, if he could say it right. I believe it sounded like "gwee-tha-tho" only squishier. I heard my toddler try to say the Spanish phrase for "help me" while playing with her toys, but again, it was soggy as a wet tortilla. Of course, she's two, but still. So I'm seeing the kids picking up the words, and what a waste that they don't really know what they're getting or how to say it. Why include the Spanish at all if they're not going to do it right? I can't really help, I can't figure it out either.
