The Mother On Is What Is So Messed Up In Urban Black Culture

God worrying more about the missing drug money and keys to the car. Then when it comes to bringing justice to her sons shooter she says, "I ain't never been a snitch in my life."

This just blew my mind but then again once she started talking she sounded more like the ring leader of the whole drug deal then just a mother.

Ah well one less ghetto substance abuse pushing jungle bunny off the street.

Remember there is a difference between a black person and a nigg@.

I came to the site when they showed that scene to see if anyone else had that "WTF" moment. I watch this show and see some of the black people's reactions and they don't even seem sad. They show the Victims Fiancee and sister coming in Miami and one of the gals is smiling talking on the phone. Yes, your brother has been shot dead, lets talk on the cell phone smiling while you walk into homicide.

It's no wonder these urban people are murdering. Look at the type of woman raising them.

Why is it that the actions of ONE person explains the demise of others?
"It's no wonder these urban people are murdering. Look at the type of woman raising them". How dare you group people together as if no urban mother is responsible for their children! You can make that statement after you see someone on television and decide that every urban mother is that way?! No, I am not an "URBAN" mother but I do know some. Like the Urban mother that raised four GENIUS (TESTED and proven) children. Two of which have already graduated, one with a masters in Education and the other with a DOUBLE major and the other two that graduate in December "11". One of those last two even have 3 children but she's still graduating on time. The father was around. Unfortunatley, he's an alcoholic suffering from POST TRAMATIC SYNDROME from serving in Vietman while serving his country. He was not the one instrumental in getting these children thru school. The URBAN mother was. Don't group people! It's terribly insulting but the funny thing is is that it seems to happen just to people of color. If a white person does anything they are just TRASH because not all white people are that way. There is a difference. Let's not fool ourselves to make us feel like we are better than and so different from everyone else. We're not. Just as a whole, our circumstances are different. Although it was just a movie, there was some truth to TRADING PLACES.

Your post was just too long winded to read, but it was being referenced to the people on the show not all mothers.

You speak the truth, I so wish more people would remember that.

I'm black and I've been fortunate enough to have been raised in a great family household (parents married 28yrs, both grandparents 45+yrs) I'm 26 now and I see just how sheltered I was as far as the 'single black mom/loser deadbeat father or did I have much knowledge of the poor black community. When that mom came in and started off talking about money my jaw dropped. Like your son died 24hrs ago and your worried about money!?! Just heard on NPR how the prison population is like 50% black(can't remember the exact percentage), yet the black population only makes up 11% of the US population. 1 in 4 black men don't graduate high school...its such sad statistic but I mean you have a mom like this and you see why.

I was on jury duty about five years ago for an attempted murder case. In a very bad section of town (public housing) two black teens from different gangs got into a fight while the "adults" stood around rooting for their favorite. The smaller teen started getting pummeled and a guy nicknamed St. Louis (since that was where he was from) who knew the smaller teen, but was not involved in any gang, broke it up. The smaller teen went to the 20 year olds in the gang (it sounded almost like a cub scout/boy scout relationship but towards the evil end of the spectrum). The older members decided that St. Louis had interfered in gang business. The leader of the gang (nicknamed Capone), in broad daylight and with plenty witnesses standing around, met up with St. Louis and started shooting him. No witnesses came forward to point the finger at Capone (all to scared or didn't want to be snitches). Instead Capone's defense was to put on a parade of witnesses who contridiced each other (Capone was there but wasn't the shooter to Capone wasn't even in the area) and were torn apart and shown to be liars by the prosecuter. The one thing Capone didn't count on is St.Louis surviving. He was the very first witness and the defense could do nothing to change the impact he had had.

Many adults from the area were put on the stand, by both the defense and the prosecution. It was mind-boggling how irresponsible these people were and what kind of lives they lived. I teach at a university and a junior college part-time so the only people of a race besides white that I had known were people who were college students or people I went to college with. They are nothing like the people I observed during this trial. It was really an eye-opening experience.

Why would u agree with someone who just called u a jungle bunny? Yes there are a lot of problems in the urban black community, but I think it is just sad u would agree with someone who hates u blc of who God made u to be...black. Those people are extremely ignorant and their community is overwhelmed with hate, envy, and at times lunacy. That mother is only exhibiting what she learned at her mother's knee. It is a vicious cycle--a curse. And if u and what's his face don't like it I think u should step out of ur comfort zone and go be a light in a dark world. Join big brothers/sister--do something for someone else and quit complaining about the problems. Try being a solution for once in ur life!

I was agreeing with his quote that there is a difference between a black person and a N-word. Not the jungle bunny part. The N-word means someone who is ignorant, so the word isn't just exclusive to a black person, because there are plenty of ignorant people of every race. I didn't consider my post complaining, just simply stating a fact. As far as getting out there and doing something I have been, I'm a probation/parole officer my job is helping and educating offenders and making them a better citizen in their community.

I'm not trying to be rude, but your job is a job--ur paid to do the work. What is ur mission outside of that? When u participate in organizations like boys/girls club of America it means so much. No person can pick and choose who their mother/father will be. And just like you have parents who teach hard work dedication and honesty you have parents who teach them how to steal lie and cheat. If u and I and others stepped outside of our comfort zones and planted one seed of love and dedication it WOULD make a difference. It doesn't stick for everyone and u won't be able to make a difference with each person but just one would be awesome.

But for the grace of God there go I. That could be you on the first 48 but for the fact you had good parents and a sound mind.
