Do you think they were totally acting?

I don't know about you, but I find it hard that Sally and Elaine could do those wonderful love scenes without feeling SOMETHING, without getting a little hot and bothered. I suppose it is just wishful thinking. Lol.
I have such a case of 'butterflies' thinking of this movie. I have never seen
better. I WANT A GIRLFRIEND! (:

It's a great thing when you realize you still have the ability to surprise yourself.

I found those scenes to be quite...ummm....moving, as well, lol! Well, of course they were moving. But you know. Double meanings and all that :-D Normally love scenes in movies don't do much for me, but their emotion in those scenes (especially from Sally, for some reason she struck me more) made it seem so real. Also I think Sally Hawkins is really really beautiful. A bit of a side note, there.

I think the distinction is harder to make here than with normal hetero sex, although I'm sure they were carefully choreographed and directed. With straight sex the distinction is easy -- if there's no penetration then they are "just acting." Choreography or not, if there's penetration then I think most people would say it's not 'just acting.' Most movies "act" sex by simulating penetration with appropriate moaning and rocking.

But what constitutes lesbian sex? Moaning, and kissing, and rubbing -- all of which we see to varying degrees -- are definitely going on. Even though it's choreographed, I bet they both "felt it" to some extent.
