I don't agree with him using 'Daddy'.

Sometimes, Cesar will use "Daddy", a pit-bull he rescued, to help other dogs, and has even brought him to people's houses, to use him with their dog.

I don't think it is very responsible for a dog expert to use a pit-bull at all. They are dangerous and deadly dogs, and can cause great damage and death.

I am sure that Daddy is well-trained, and may not deliberately attack things, but pitbulls have a certain jaw-line, which means that they are more likely to do more damage if they something in their teeth, even playfully. Pit-bulls were bred as fighter dogs, and shouldn't really be pets.

Furthermore, Cesar should not be endorsing pit-bulls (which he is by using Daddy). It may encourage others, who think that pitbulls are safe because dog-expert Cesar Milan uses them, to buy one, only to find that it attacks children and other people and animals.

It doesn't matter if Daddy has "never attacked before". All pitbull owners say this, until the first time. It is irresponsible for any owner to have a pitbull, let alone a dog-expert.

Let's start with your fact checking (or lack thereof). Daddy wasn't a rescue. Cesar came to have Daddy after the musician Redman gave Daddy to Cesar as a puppy. Cesar used Daddy on consultations and rehabilitations because Daddy was a calm and level-headed dog. His calmness helped fearful/nervous dogs come out of their shells and his reactions to other dogs helped Cesar gage their mindsets. Daddy died in 2010. He was sixteen-years-old. He never harmed anyone in all that time. Cesar said that about his biggest crime was that he pulled quite a bit on the lead when he was younger. Later in Daddy's life, Cesar got a Pit Bull puppy called Junior. Daddy was instrumental in his upbringing. He was sort of a mentor to Junior and his chilled out temperament has rubbed off on Junior. Junior is now a sterling ambassador of the breed.

As for all that nonsense about Pit Bulls being ticking time bombs. ANY breed can inflict serious damage. I have seen pictures of kids that have been mauled by Border Collies and Labradors. The wounds have been very similar to injuries inflicted by Pit Bulls. Should those breeds be considered dangerous because of those attacks? In fact in the UK, you are more likely to be bitten by a Lab than by a Bull Terrier. Labradors that have been poorly bred can be every bit as dangerous as poorly bred Pit Bull. They are large powerful and active dogs. There have also been quite a few reports recently about bad breeding lines in Labradors. That and the fact that too many people get a Lab and automatically assume they are going to be 'safe' and don't bother training them or exercising them properly. It is irresponsible of anyone to get a dog (regardless of breed) if they are not going to fulfil their needs!

Cesar Millan and other experts have heaps of experience working with a variety of breeds. I would say they know what they are talking about when they recommend Pit Bulls. However I have never heard Cesar say that people should get a Pit Bull (or any other breed for that matter) and not bother with socialisation, training, exercise, etc. He and other behaviourists always maintain that a lot of work should go into raising and training a dog.

Regarding children. They are more at risk from their own parents than by dogs. Children are also their own worst enemy when it comes to interacting with dogs. They pull their ears, tails, genitalia, hair, throw their arms around them, make quick and sudden movements, scream, will tease them with food, poke/prod them and will even jump on them and ride them as if they were horses. The sad thing is that far too many parents do not prevent their kids doing those things. A lot of them will even encourage it. Just look on YouTube and you will find countless videos of parents laughing when their kid jumps onto a Rottweiler or when they wrestle with a Pit Bull. Full credit to the dogs for putting up with it, but I honestly cannot blame them when they have had enough of such rough treatment. No dog should have to put up with that!

Parents MUST also be aware that they cannot let their kids go up to and touch strange dogs. There was a time when I was walking (my then only dog - a Lurcher) and this girl came running up from behind and grabbed my dog's tail. I looked around and the mother was standing there watching. Yep, that stupid woman had allowed her kid to grab my dog's tail! I told her that is how some dogs bite. She wasn't amused and stared at me coldly. She then said that the kid was only two. She certainly wasn't that age and should have known a damned site better! If my dog had reacted, then it would have all been his and my fault. It would not have been that idiotic woman's fault. That's for sure. As it was, he was more interested in sniffing a bush.

Until authorities actually start educating people about dog safety, bites and attacks will continue. Banning breeds does NOT work! Oh and somebody who has a dog who has bitten or attacked (regardless of breed) will always say the dog hasn't done that before if the dog hasn't actually bitten or attacked until that point.

I shall finish by saying that the most dangerous and destructive species on the face of this planet is the human being. Far more so than ANY breed of dog!

Pit bulls are illegally bred for fighting in my area, and our local shelter is crowded with them. Some pits make me nervous, but Daddy is the mellowest dog of any breed I have ever seen.
Personally, I think most of the people on Millan's TV show shouldn't be allowed to own dogs. They're idiots (the people, not the dogs).

Get me a bromide! And put some gin in it!

I've had several pitbulls and even though they each had their own personality none of them ever attacked anyone. They were intimidating just because they were pitbulls, but that's about it! They were very smart! My first pit, a stray who was breed for fighting and hog hunting based on her ears and tail being cut completely off, was beasties with my rabbit and they used to sleep under the tree together! My rabbit jumped all over my pitbull and Labrador for that matter! My other pit was equally as sweet. He was super smart and easy to train! He knew many tricks and commands. He even got his leash when he wanted to go outside!

The only dog I have had who had an aggression issues was a lab/rott mix. Pits are not bad, it's the people who own them who have the problem!

Its ignorant, clueless people who are arrogant that are dangerous. They spread misinformation and lack of basic common sense because they are too arrogant to be able to see when they are wrong or misinformed.

Daddy the pit bull is far, far less dangerous than any dog ignorant clueless people will ever own. Daddy trusts Cesar completely and he is a dog, first. Then a pit, then he could be any kind of dog just like any breed. Daddy is a dog that is perfectly centered and calm. Daddy is not even a dog that would try to kill a cat because thats his breeds nature, isn't it idiot American? *beep* cops who are morbidly obese, racist and gormless. That is American cops as much as Daddy is a dangerous dog. He'd be dangerous if he had to protect Cesar or his pack, or on command. Command that would never come from the best dog person on earth.

Several weeks ago, I stumbled upon a dog adoption show in which all the potential adopters sat in a semicircle in the shelter lobby while the host introduced dogs to them one by one. When the host brought in a pit bull, one middle-aged woman voiced her concern that it was a pit bull. The host looked crossly at her for several seconds, then asked in a subtly challenging tone, "Why do you say that?" She explained that she thought pit bulls were dangerous animals. The host flatly stated that pit bulls are no more dangerous than any other dog breed.

Disgusting. Too many Western Bloc people - mainly the white middle-class ones - have been trained to view any awareness of the differences between creatures as "racist" and therefore deserving of contempt. Couple that with the massive pit bull lovers' cult, and the problem doubles. Our one hope is that we have facts and the communications technology to spread them (http://www.dogsbite.org/dog-bite-statistics.php):

In the 10-year period from 2005 to 2014, pit bulls killed 203 Americans and accounted for 62% of the total recorded deaths (326).

Of the 88 fatal dog attacks recorded by DogsBite.org, pit bull type dogs were responsible for 59% (52). This is equivalent to a pit bull killing a U.S. citizen every 21 days during this 3-year period.

The data also shows that pit bulls commit the vast majority of off-property attacks that result in death. Only 18% (16) of the attacks occurred off owner property, yet pit bulls were responsible for 81% (13).
