Is this a government funded movie?

Movie seems like it's intended to scare us in to submission and giving up our rights by making the terrorist an average joe. You can hear in a background tv talking about the patriot act.

reply

No it isn't government funded. As a matter of fact the filmmakers brought some unwanted attention from the government upon themselves.

What kind of attention like good job?

reply

I think they did a great job. The attention from the gov't was more along the lines of, "Hey! Are you planning an attack on the water supply!?!?!?!"

reply

Hell it might as well be.. im gettin annoyed by these movies.. theyre all the same the only difference is the attack.. Same goes with some of these tv shows..

Terrorist attack happen, major city. Then they show all the "ignorant" americans who hate anyone, not of a certain race, but of a color skin, and a broad generalization of their religions (saying some crap like "theyre all the same").. then theres the other guys with them who are all like "dude thats not cool, your ignorant..," then the other ones like "ya man your right, i should be more tolerant!"

then theres the group of middle easterns or similar and its the same damn sh!t just flipped around.. we got the "ignorant" ones and the opposites, and they have the same conversations but throw in a little foreign langauge..

And everyone just eats it up..

if anything its not conditioning us for an attack, but more, the following events and how we should all treat each other here in great ol' america.. in my opinion these films are a cheap buck for the makers cause they know we'll all see it.. either because we're "hardcore-americans" who want to see terrorists suffer, or "civilized" and "tolerant" people who want to see everyone so happy and want everyone of every race & religion to be equal and have picnics n sh!t with daiseys and puppys..

I'm 38 minutes into it and the only reason i MIGHT finish it is because there seems to be alot of pot involved and potheads say stupid funny things.. but even that theyre doing a horrible job at..

reply

oops, sorry.. I mentioned the ignorant turned tolerant character, forgot to mention the tolerant turned hateful character..

Being educated about the dangers in our world and being scared into submitting to violations of our rights are two seperate things. I am the first person in line to fight anyone who tries to curtail our freedoms in the United States for a false or even real sense of security. But not every movie is propoganda, try to learn to filter through everything and make a more rational judgement than spouting paranoia, because when you espouse consipricy theories on everything you loose credibility with average Americans and hurt the arguement instead of help it.

it is done in kind of a heavy-handed way. many of the characters just seem like stock characters from other movies dealing with the same subject. there's not a lot of subtlety. the other thing that i found myself wondering about was why none of the other ethnic groups that make up the diverse l.a. population were hardly even visible in this film. i can understand the makers probably had severe budgetary concerns, but the city is about as multi-cultural as it gets and yet only 2 are represented in this movie. wouldn't everybody in the city be effected by a terrorist strike on the water supply.
