Soundtrack

I'm very excited to see this movie because the music is being done by my favorite rock group, dredg.

reply

there are so many ways to say "yes" to that, but basically ... hell yeah!, dredg are an absolutley amazing band

reply

Yeah. I just read about it in their website. Is there any chance this film will play in N.Y. All i want to see is how they use Dredg's music in a film

reply

I just saw this film at SXSW in Austin, TX today. I never knew of Dredg before this but I want to find more. I don't know what type of music they did previously, but I can tell you that Dredg's music plays a crucial role in the drama of this movie. A simply stunning and beautiful piano piece is played throughout the movie and it just rules the entire film. However, if this unlike Dredg's previous work, it also features a solid but subtle techno beat matched to the piano. Words can't obviously describe the music in the movie but it was one of the many things that literally blew me away. I want to find more of Dredg's work...

reply

Hey, le_pooploser , do you know where I may be able to find some of their new songs? I promised myself i would not download any of their new songs, but I just can't help it.

reply

It comes out June 21st. You don't have to wait much longer. I just saw them in concert 6 days ago. They were great! :) Though the new stuff is not as good as the old. It's a bit more straight-forward, simplicity and a little...bit on the 'it sounds like a lot of what I've heard before' but it's not horrible. My favorite album is "El Cielo" for numerous reasons, then "Leitmotif" and then "Catch Without Arms." I'll still prob. buy the C.D. none-the-less bc I love Dredg so much, lol, and I do really like a couple of the tracks quite a bit. But I can't wait til this soundtrack comes out!!!

reply

its out, came out on the 21st. its titled 'catch without arms'

reply

I'm a HUGE Dredg fan too!!!!!! I went to see Waterborne at a film festival in Wichita, KS. Dredg was awesome. I can't wait for the DVD/CD to come out. Everyone that loves Dredg should see the movie.

reply

I am glad that people are learning about dredg from this movie. They write the most beautifully sculpted music.

Does anybody have the tracklisting for the soundtrack?

Edit - WOAH....I just noticed that the lead track on the soundtrack begins where catch without arms leaves off. Wow, I can't stress how much I love this band.

reply

Yeah, so Dredg is one of my favorite bands of all time. I just saw them in Providence on Tuesday and they were absolutely amazing. PLEASE for the love of God somebody tell me where I can buy the CD or DVD. In my opinion they are getting better and better with each album--Catch Without Arms is incredible.

Finally, an IMDB board where fans of Dredg can communicate and band together. I also found out about this film through the band and it's on my Netflix queue, just waiting to blow my mind.

If the movie is half as good as Dredg's music then it should be a trip. I think people understate how crucial music is to the overall tone and success of a film. Dare I say it's a 50/50 split between the two. This is why I consider filmmaking art at its highest level. The blending of a living, breathing story that happens right before your eyes, with music conveying all that pictures and words cannot.

I'd have to say that Dredg is one of my favorite bands, second only to the almighty TOOL. And if Dredg or TOOL ever decide to make their own film, al la Pink Floyd The Wall, my head will explode in ecstasy as multi-colored energy beams engulf my body, transforming me into an enlightened being consisting of pure light and energy. Or so I believe.

I dont know about anyone else, but I was kind of disappointed that the movie only used 1 dredg song througout the entire movie. At the end they sort of played another, but for the most part it was just the one repeated over and over. And don't get me wrong the song was amazing and worked really well, but when I hear an original score from Dredg, I would hope it would be a bit more. Anyone agree?

reply

there were more like 7 or 8 different dredg tracks used in the movie you just didn't notice the other ones, because they weren't repeated. listen closer.

reply

Now i am sold to see this movie. It really has to be intense to use dredg...dredg amzes me.i dont have words.just speechless...
