What is Kathy Bates's role?
I had heard that Kathy Bates is playing FDR's mother, but according to my FDR biography, his mother's name was Sara, and Bates is listed as "Helena". Who is this person?
shareNo, she did NOT play his mother, but a physical therapist. (She doesn't enter the film until well into the story.)
The actors that played FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt were SO believable as the characters both in their acting and in their looks.

shareI think Cynthia Nixon, though much too thin, looks a lot more than the real Eleanor Roosevelt than 95% of all Hollywood actresses. There is something about her face and the semi-prissy looks she always gets on her face even when she played her role on Sex and the City. I think casting her as Eleanor was a stroke of genius, though believe me, I disagree with the casting of a LOT of roles in film and so often that sometimes I wish I were a casting director myself, haha!
