Unbeleivably brilliant film

I loved this film. It summed up both the empty dispair of the people caught up in collapsed countries and the complete failure of western governments who pump weapons into the situation when what is needed is education and economic aid. Not food handouts but rather aid to recontruct a nation.

This film managed to portray so much without being too moralistic or bleeding hearts. The children despite their terrible situation were able to manage and fight on.

As a side note I felt it was an excellent dig at taliban justice and treatment of women.

I think this movie is more "important" than "brilliant".
However I do think it's a "must see" for everyone who wants to know more about middle-east cinema and about what's happening with the children of that forgotten and quasi-destroyed place called Afghanistan.

PS: Most likely you've already seen it, but if not, try watching "Turtles can fly", a quite similar movie to this one. And of course "Osama" and "Kandahar".
