PG-13 Rating?

At the VC Film Fest, where this screened last night, the director mentioned that this film would be considered a PG-13 rating. He wasn't really clear on whether it had been classified as such, but I think it was probably a guess on his part.

What do you guys think? I personally found the film to be quite bloody and violent -- even if most of the violence was offscreen. Wouldn't the tension in this film alone, combined with the domestic violence, merit an R in the states?

Compared to what they have as R now? There's either a whole great deal of fornication or dismembered body parts. There's a PG-13 movie called "Stay Alive." It pretty much has the same characteristics of this film.

But wouldn't the scenes where the Husband beating his wife each night, while intoxicated be much, and the mentions of child abuse be looked into also?
