Lynette

What did you guys think about Lynette? I thought she was jealous of Sherry and wanted to take her daughter away from her! I also thought Alexis was a little brat and a showoff.

reply

I think Lynette had some resentment towards Sherry, because she was really more a mother than Sherry was. Sherry seemed to be jealous of Lynette, unless I'm reading different signals.

I didn't have much sympathy for sherry wanting her daughter back.

reply

I can't blame Lynette for being angry at Sherry, just showing up the way she does after being released from prison. Like she tells Sherry, "she was fine until you showed up."

reply

I didn't blame Lynnette either. I mean you take up the responsibilities & duties of a mother to a child that isn't yours..and one day they march right back in thinking they can pick back up where they left off.

I mean of course Sherry deserved a chance to have a relationship with her daughter, but she still wasn't in a place to be a mother.

The great thing about this movie is that things are not black and white. Yes, Lynette has been the mother figure to Alexis, and she definitely is a better mother than Sherry is to Alexis. But Sherry is the mother, and she wants to rebuild a relationship with her daughter. Lynette was out of line to tell Alexis not to call Sherry "Mommy."
