Could 'Grampa' of molested Lexi?

First off I enjoyed this move even through at times it was hard to watch with some pretty degrading and depressing scenes. The one thing that blew me away {and totally disgusted me} was the fact that NOONE alluded to the fact that Sherry was molested by her father as a young girl {and he STILL is doing in?!} what about poor Lexi?? why does Robert call his old man out and tell him he knows what he did to Sherry and he is NOT gonna allow it with Lexi, Lexi and Sherry look alot a like, what is too prevent this perverted swine to go after his grandaughter? if he molested his own daughter he will do it to Lexi too. I do not think Lynette knows about the incest, even through she was kinda of bitch in the movie she loves that little girl like her own and she would "bar" her father-in-law from her home and her life if she knew he was a dirty old man, Robert should man up and say something before he starts it with Lexi, remember when Sherry asked Lexi if she ever was in florida and she said "lynette and bobby went and I stayed with grampa! wonderful! I sensed he had already tried something with her she is such a sad little troubled girl, it made me sick when he molested sherry as she was crying her eyes out! sick swine!

I think it was realistic, and the acting was great, I especially liked Danny Trejo he played a good part, I wondered about Sherry's mom did she die? I dont think they ever said. Good movie good acting, through graphic and gritty it gets it point across.

Yes! My stomach was sick when Alexis had her outing with Sherry. When they were eating and talking at the table and Alexis mentioned spending the night with Grandma Mary. I thought it was going to lead into just that type of revelation. I am glad the brother found out the truth and glad that Sherry had her breakthrough.

Honest to god, I thought I was the only one! My stomach was in knots to whole time, especially during the scene where she had to change Lexi's clothes. I got chills.

"lynette and bobby went and I stayed with grampa!"

No, actually she says "I stayed with Grandma Mary", which led the group I saw it with to think that Bobby was making sure not to leave Lexi with that man. He knows the score. Still, I would have felt better if in that last scene with Sherry and Bobby, she had explicitly asked him to keep Lexi safe from that man.

I think it's probably true that Bobby knew from childhood about the abuse. Why he never confronted the father -- people get paralyzed in the face of sexual abuse.

Thanks for writing what you did, debih. In real life, you bet that grandfather would go for the vulnerable grandchild. It was a gross oversight not to address that aspect. Sherry asks the sister-in-law, "Do you think she'll look like me when she grows up?" With a grandfather like that lurking around, she will!

I was also sickened by what Sherry's "dad" did to her while pretending to comfort her! I couldn't stop crying because I know how many addicts/alcoholics have been molested as children or sexually abused in their teens. I was one of those teens (though my parents NEVER hurt me; it was someone my family and I trusted). But people shouldn't be so hard on addicts. They're just trying to numb the pain.

Oh, by the way, Sherry said her mother was dead. It didn't say how or when, but she is deceased.

I love Danny Trejo. He's always brilliant. And way hotter than the 1980s-looking dude with the mullet!

I hope all the real life versions of Grampa died long, painful deaths. Those sickos who commit rape, sexual molestation, incest and other sex crimes should earn themselves a spot on the Death Row list. There are some things you can do to a person worse than murder.

Yeah, I noticed that too, I was glad the brother told her he knew at the end. And yeah, I agree, Trejo rocks, really liked his character in this film. 

Not to be a grammar Nazi (screw it, yeah, I'm a grammar Nazi), don't you mean Could Grampa HAVE molested Lexi? Could "of"? Really? What is ya, an ijit?

"She's, like, a biscuit older than me..."

reply

I'm glad someone else said it. This may be the most egregious example of the scourge that is "would of," "could of" et.al. Just plain subbing in "of" for "have?" Really? Does no one read anymore? How has "of" become a verb?

reply

Oh, I believe it's worse than you may think.

Over the past 6-8 years, my (university) students have been more and more frequently using the non-word "supposubly." And the misuse of the word "literally" drives me to distraction - literally.

reply

I don't think he could have.

What does "of molested" mean??

Look at you people with nothing better to say. Wow! Wish we could all be as perfect as you all who go around correcting people's grammar. Gees!

Anyway, I'm glad others noticed the father. I've been reading through this board and started to think I was the only one who saw it lol.
