I only watched parts of the movie. Can someone tell me what happens after she finds out that she has the virus and tries to contact Salman. Does she reach him?

ok here's your answer. yes she is able to contact him and she finds out why all of it happened.

Is it because he got it through sleeping with someone and then she slept with him?

Yes, he had it from his ex and didn't know and he passed it on to shilpa... in the end she forgives him as he becomes very ill and then... he dies.
