I could not agree more with you mate. You have hit the nail right on the head. It's about time we had a film like this, where those with disabilities aren't portrayed in the film as a token gesture to the story, simply being someone with a disability. But instead they are given a role where they are a person, not a symbol. A friend, not a metaphor for courage or inspiration. Because all people with disabilities want is the same opportunities as everyone else, and not to be put on a pedestal for everyone to examine.
Well said mate.
I think this movie is absolutely brilliant too. It really moved me, but not, as was said, because of any triumph or courage, but because it was about friends who loved each other and saw past any differences. It has moved me, and enriched me in ways I didn't think it was going to.
Us people with disabilities are just people like everyone else. We may need help with certain things, but then high power executives need assistants as they'd never get anything done without them! I pat the assistant on the back for managing to cope with it!
I'm glad to see at least some people really enjoyed this film as much as I did.
