Oz!=Oz?

Wait, so let me get this straight... they're doing a Muppets' wizard of OZ, and frank OZ won't be in it as Miss Piggy or Fozzie? How ironic is that?

reply

I was wondering the same thing.

Why IS Frank Oz not voicing Piggy ?

Is it cause he's working on the final Star Wars film.

reply

I think it is for two reasons: One is that Frank Oz has other projects besides the ones for the Henson Company. He is also a Director and Producer. Two is that it may have to do with his age. I've noticed he's been taking on less projects lately. He didn't do the voices of Piggy or Fozie in the last made for TV Muppets movie either.

But that's different I think think. That's being able to say that he was in more of the Star Wars movies than Harrison Ford...plus I think he's paid big bucks to voice Yoda, while this is a TV moive. I think he's still on the board for the henson co. though.

He's not listed anywhere. Producer, Writer, voice, performer, director. Has he maybe been muscled out by the Henson Kids?

reply

No way! He has too much stock in the company. Like I said, I read that he wanted to focus on directing and producing his own stuff. He probably is doing star wars because it doesn't involve a lot of time.

He still performs them whenever he can, but he seems to help Sesame Street more, as he devotes a week to it every year.

reply

That makes sense. Sesame Street was their first major project.
