A muppet Wizard of Oz?!

Why would it be a joke? The Henson company has been working up to doing a Wizard of Oz story for a long time. They've mimicked it a few times on their tv shows (Muppet Babies, Fraggle Rock...I think even Farscape did an episode that had Oz References in it) and there was a similar theme to the movie Labyrinth.

Right, I'm in England for school at the moment. Normally I live in Arizona So if this muppets movie comes on while I'm still here it will be the mission of my family to tape it for me.

Geez, lighten up. It's just a bit of fun. If you don't like the sound of it, don't watch it.

Susanville is in Northern California about 80 miles northwest of Reno, NV. I can't believe there's another person here from Susanville! Thought I was the biggest Muppet freak from here!

Can't wait for the new movie!!!

reply

Kfsnetwk, does this mean that the film has the Muppet Theatre in it?

As in the place where suposedly the Muppet Show was performed live by the Muppets?

Ok, I', confusing everyone. Does this film have the Muppet Theatre in it like It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas does?

Thanks for any information.

I haven't heard any details like that yet. I'm not sure if they're going to be doing this like in the orignal movie with something like "Dorothy" comes to preform at the Muppet theatre, get knocked unconscience, and wakes up in Oz where everyone is a Muppet, mimicking the characters she was about to go on stage with. Or if this is going to be like Muppet Christmas Carol or Treasure Island where the Muppets are just the charactrs in the story and not themselves.

Unfortunately, it's no joke. And laughs will no doubt be scarce in the actual movie as well. This is a perfect example of what can go wrong when a beloved classic goes out of copyright. Now anyone can butcher "The Wizard of Oz" if they wish to. What a tragedy, debased by the Muppets! "Oz" doesn't deserve this assault.

WHY DO YOU SAY LAUGHS WILL NOT BE SCARCE IN THE MOVIES? HAVE YOU SEEN IT IS IT FUNNY? HOW DO YOU KNOW ITS FUNNY?

reply

APPARENTLY IT IS NOT A JOKE ACCORDING TO THE IMDB WEBSITE ITS STILL BEING FILMED SO... I THINK IT WILL BE OK FOR KIDS.THEN AGAIN IT MIGHT NOT DO VERY WELL

reply

WHAT WAS THAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU, MAYBE YOU COULD TALK A LITTLE LOUDER....

WORST. CAST. EVER.

I'm going to kill myself now.

***by the time you've read this you've already read it***

It's no joke and I'm really looking forward to it. Come on people! The Muppets are hillarious! Did you see the Very Muppet Christmas w/Whoopi? I couldn't stop laughing! ^_^

If you guys want details, they have pics and such at muppets.com.

reply

Why take it so serious?

After all, three of the main characters were in fact, a scarecrow, a tin-man, and a lion.

And who's to say the Munchkins couldn't of been mistaken for Muppets?

reply

Okay
It's a Joke.
