If you think that her schtick is to try to be offensive or attention seeking, you really just dont get it.

Was Lenny Bruce just aiming to get attention? Was there a point behind the comedy bits that got him arrested 4 times?

People that dismiss her as one-note and just trying to be provocative should stick to Dane Cook or Carlos Mencia.

Sarah Silverman is Comedy. And if you cant see the layers of depth to her jokes and dont find her funny, I feel sorry for you. Because you are really missing out.

Yeah I don't get how people don't find her funny! I laughed pretty much non-stop through Jesus is Magic! How are people missing her jokes? Maybe people's idea of irony these days starts and finishes with the philosophy of Alanis Morissette...

I thought she was pretty funny most of the time. (Though I am not sure about some of the songs.)

You didn't just compare her to Lenny Bruce, did you? And people have been doing what she does for decades, the only difference is that she contrasts it with the "cute girl" exterior.

Silverman's fine, but she's hardly the epitome of a great comedian. And she's only written one set which she drags out every now and then, which relegates her more to "comic actress" than "stand-up comedian", as far as I see it.
