scary ? creepy ? comparing with the descent

how many times do you jump in this movie ?. comparing with the descent ?
please explain.

Well... I did a couple times during the second floor visits... especially when "she" appears. It was rather a "creepy atmosphere/guess who's who movie" rather than a "NOW JUMP" film.

That and of course the fact that this one respected the viewer's intelligence and did not create a killer who had developed a super-hearing skill with no nostrills... how could those creatures be blind and not smell the girls in front of them... no clue.

I liked this one a lot. Sad thing Calista is taking such a long hiatus and Jaume is so underrated. Really good filmmaking, good story and good acting.

I've seen both movies.
I think the Descent was better, more action.. And I like the ending.

But Fragile is also scary.. If you believe in ghosts.

reply

Fragile was way more scary. The Descent was only in the beginning really scary, but it ended with just action.

reply

I would have to disagree..
Fragile was not such an exciting movie, and that ghost.. was really not scary.
I could feel more tension when I watched the descent, really.
In the descent, the pressure builds, and it really gets scary..!

reply

Fragile could have been better. But the "jump-scenes" were badly made, and there is only gets remotely creepy. You aren't scared at anytime.

I'd have to say I agree with you on your last phrase.
I actually liked the lack of action in this one. It's more a classic scary movie but what sets it apart is the haunting thing. Ghosts freak me out even though I know not all are evil, and this one gives a fairly good example of what a haunting might be like.

Did you ever notice that people who believe in creationism look realy un-evolved? - Bill Hicks

I don't think you can compare these two movies...they're completely different, aren't they? It's like comparing Scream an Ju-On, the only similarity is that people die and the word "horror"

Suicide is the most sincere form of self-criticism.

I dont think that The Decent is a good movie to make a comparison with.
But this movie deffinately makes an excellent double feature with 'Session 9'.

This movie reminded me of the more "old school" style ghost movies, not the current braindead garbage that floods the cinema's, it compares to earlier ghost films like "ghost story" and maybe the original "The haunting", the descent is a comletely different sytle/Genre, that was more a mutant stalk and slash rather than a ghost movie, (I didn't think the Descent was that good but each to their own, let's see what "DE2CENT" [descent 2 not a rapper] brings us).

reply

This isn't really scary, just a little creepy and atmospheric in places. The Decent is more effective but a lot less subtle with it.

Fragile is a great spooky film.Descent's first half was excelent, second half little less.

reply

The Descent is a waaaaaaay better movie. I didn't jump once in Fragiles, it was more of a supposed-to-be-scary-ghost-movie. :S

reply

Well this was more of a fairytale thing and certainly not a masterpiece like Descent. It had it´s moments but I was sort of disappointed with the kindness of the whole thing, Descent was far more cruel and nasty. Still, it is worth a watch especially if you enjoy films like The others etc.

reply

you can't compare the two at all. Descent was more of a survival horror/action movie, while this was a classic ghost story. Both had scary parts, both were well made. Foreign horror has really gotten better then American.
