Spanish?

How is this a Spanish film?
It took me a while to find it on imdb since it is listed as Frágiles, a Spanish film!

It was a Spanish production. The director and some of the Producers are Spanish, as are the screenwriters. Some of the actors are Spanish too (the pretty brunnette nurse).

The company which made the film is Spanish too. The script, however, was written in English since the story was set in England.

BTW -- this film was released everywhere theatrically EXCEPT in the U.S. There was a pretty bad dispute with Sony Pictures over the distribution rights and this movie never saw the light of day in the U.S.

So the movie is Spanish but done with english speech from the beginning and then dubbed for the Spanish audience, am I right?
(Otherwise it's the best damn english dub ever!)

reply

Yes. Most of the actors are from England. Flockhart is American. Some cast members were Spanish, though, like Helen (Elena Anaya) but it makes sense because her character was supposed to be from Madrid.

Wouldn't matter, a foreign movie in the US will only ever get picked up by every 1 in a thousand theatres because they are all owned by production companies. Why show REC and make money for a European producer when you can remake the movie as Quarantine and pretend to Americans it is an original film, making yourself lots of money in the process.

Departed, Death at a Funeral, Vanilla Sky, when they aren't rebooting something old they are remaking something foreign.
