What is this?

What is this? Who is the director? Roberts brother?

reply

Robert has like 400 brothers and sisters, so I think it's safe to assume that this is with him. I'm surprised to see that he's getting more family members involved in his productions, but we'll see how this does.

Eduardo Rodriguez is not related to Robert Rodriguez in any way. Eduardo is Venezuelan, and went to Florida State University Film School. His short film "Daughter" was nominated in the short film category at the Cannes Film Festival. The win garnered him a three film contract with Dimension Films, Curandero is his first film with Dimension.

Robert Rodriguez was born and raised in Texas and I believe is of Mexican descent.

The film promises to be a really good one, I've seen Eduardo's short film "Daughter", and loved it. If he brings the same intensity to this one, it will be one of the better horror films coming out this fall.

Then they'd better get on the stick with the previews and commercials and posters. Time's a wastin'!

This all has to do with the Miramax / Weinstein Co. split...

A number of Miramax films seem to be slipping through the proverbial publicity cracks.

They just released the poster and trailers for Venom end of last week, and that one is due out in theaters on the 16th.

What this is is actually a very worthwhile horror, come crime thriller with supernatural overtones. It's a low budget gem that is visually inventive, whilst depicting a Mexican underworld in which superstition and black and white magic have as much influence as both crime lords and police. I liked its originality and suggest it is well worth a look.
