He's a a very conscientious stock trader. He encouraged the person, either a new investor with a lot of wealth or a middle income investor putting a bit of nest egg into the stock, on the other end of the line to buy more shares of stock he was monitoring. His boss wanted more shares bought to add money to the pool and of course he'd get a cut out of it. Despite this was his job, the stock must have thousands of pounds worth per share and he couldn't believe they would agree to invest that much. That's why he said it was way too much for the investor to risk.
