Piper's accent?

I thought it was really good. There was the ocassional American twang in there, but they were few and far between.

I LOVE this film and I thought Piper's accent was very good. I am not English but I am a complete anglophile--most of the movies and series in my Netflix queue are British or at least have a couple British actors in the cast. While I may not have as keen an ear as a true Brit, I would say Piper's accent seemed to be spot on throughout the film--the slip I even noticed was at the very end when she stood on the car and yelled "Your a wanker number 9!". It seemed to show just a tad when she said "wanker". Other than that though, just BRILL!!!

I totally agree. I thought she did a very good job. She was surrounded by native Brits, so it would have been really obvious if she didn't pull it off, but she blended right in like it was natural.

I think the responses so far are telling. If she failed in any obvious way, you can be sure our fellow critics would have nailed her to the wall.

I am amazed at how well British actors speak "American English", while at the same time I'm often embarrassed with how poorly we "Yanks" pull off the reverse.

I have a slight crush on Piper and was a little afraid for her when I realized she was going to attempt this tricky bit.

I think the usual mistake made by "USA'ers" is that we over do it.
Piper seemed careful to be pretty modest in her accent - she didn't "accent" the accent.

As an American, I'm probably a bit ignorant when it comes to British accents, although I probably watch more British shows and movies than I do American. Until I researched her, I had no idea that Piper Perabo was American. I thought her accent was great, particularly because it wasn't overdone as some Americans tend to do.

For somebody born in Dallas (me, too), it was pretty darn good.

As a British accent wannabe impersonator, I can say without a doubt that she read it, she rolled it, and she holed it. Not bad for a girl from the great state of Texas.

Of course, I'm 50% German, 37.5% English & 12.5% Native American, and I'm American born. With some phrases, I can twist my American English into a British or Irish dialect, but it's not perfect. I love to meet a British woman, so she can teach me not just how to fake it, but actually slam dunk it.

The sports car driver turned commentator, Liz Halliday from Eurosport, is an American racer living in England, who adopted the British dialect and it's just in her tongue.
