I assume this is a very short film

Terrorists steal plane. French surrender immediately.

With the French refusing to get seriously stuck in (other than token support) to help their allies in southern Afghanistan, it’s hard to take a film about French military prowess seriously.

"Terrorists steal plane. French surrender immediately."

Wow... Thats original.

"With the French refusing to get seriously stuck in (other than token support) to help their allies in southern Afghanistan, it’s hard to take a film about French military prowess seriously."

Token support ?

Its the French who hold the record of bombs dropped in Afghanistan, and recently sent a few Rafales.

And why should they(we) get seriously 'stuck in'.

Out of sympathy ?

Out of 'friendship' after the way we're treated by the mainstream american politics, the people ?

France aint Britain, you can mock us, insult us, whatever.

We do whatever the *beep* we want because we are a sovereign nation and we wont be pressured or manipulated.

Stick it you queer.

Why did you call me a queer? Are you homophobic?

Now I will confess that that joke in my original post was just a joke, and granted not a very funny. I’m not anti-French, far from it.

It is not the French who “hold the record of bombs dropped in Afghanistan”. Recently, British Harrier GR7s/9s and British and Dutch AH-64 Apaches have undertaken the majority of close support operations.

Why did France send Rafales and previously Mirage 2000Ds? Because the French government rightly believed that Afghanistan returning to Taliban control would not be in French, Afghan or international security reasons.

Yet despite rightly being concerned about Taliban control in Afghanistan, France’s contribution is not as good as it could be. It is, frankly, half-hearted.

As for the way the American’s treat the French people, that is indeed counter-productive and childish. But that does not represent all of America. And France also often engages in anti-Americanism and at times often irrational ‘anti-Anglo-Saxon’ attitudes.

And France is not averse to manipulation and pressurisation either.

No, i use homophobic and racial slurs on people i dont like or get into arguments with. Thats just how i roll.

You j00

: O )

"Yet despite rightly being concerned about Taliban control in Afghanistan, France’s contribution is not as good as it could be. It is, frankly, half-hearted."

Your point being ? 'could do better' ?

Technically yeah. But why should we ?

I mean really.

"But that does not represent all of America."

Maybe so, but that does represent a fair share of the population and politicians.

Didnt Condoleeza Rice(how do you spell that name anyway) say that 'We should punish France' after Jacques Chirac opposed the war in Iraq ?

She's still part of the current administration ?

"And France also often engages in anti-Americanism and at times often irrational ‘anti-Anglo-Saxon’ attitudes."

What are you expecting ? We have a Gaulist for president, we're a major power and the british and americans often do the same.

Its funny how when you do it, its no big deal but when we do we're backstabbing surrender monkeys.

"And France is not averse to manipulation and pressurisation either."

Why wouldnt we be.

Anyway i dont judge the whole country because of some bigots and *beep* I have many (north) american friends.

Even had a friend who fought in Iraq, died during his third tour.

You don’t have to be a soldier to be critical of a governments defence policy. No more than you have to be a doctor to be critical of a countries health policy. The good thing about democracy is we are allowed (or should be allowed) to be critical of whatever we like.

Secondly, I’m not critical of French soldiers, but of French security policy.

And thirdly, the post was written two and a half years ago before the French finally (but still not enough) started to increase there role in Afghanistan.
