Question about the woman
I haven't seen this movie in a long time, so can anyone tell me what secret is the Japanese woman hiding?
shareHer secret was that she was Kaguya-hime (Princess Kaguya) from the "Tale of the Bamboo Cutter" story. :)

shareBig Bird goes to see the play about the Bamboo Princess (who is really the woman) and throughout the whole movie she keeps disappearing and reappearing. It seems that she is bound to being the Princess but she is sad about it. She doesn't want to leave Japan and sings a song to the moon about it. At the very end you see her walking through the forest of bamboo with her guards and they walk to the moon (kind of like ET but no bikes). Then Big Bird has a Greg House moment on the plane realizing that she was the Bamboo Princess.
