You need to have some life experience to appreciate this movie

This movie is cliched in some ways and it rips off Forrest Gump.

But first and foremost - it is sort of a melancholic fairy tale on our entire lives. From our birth to our death. What paths we take, what relationships we build, what work we do.

There is a lot to digest and think about here, but only if you have some life experience.

I first saw the movie when I was 23, now again when I am 31. I thought it was boring and too long at 23. Now I think it was patient, precise and very on-the-nose about many life phases and tribulations all of us go through.

Agreed. When I first watched it, I was very young and thought it was bland. Now that I'm older, I love it.

You both are correct about having a little age on you to appreciate this movie. I'm well past my 30's & this movie never fails to bring me to tears, it's quite poignant because once you reach a certain age, you know there is no going back, no do-over and regrets & reality play a major part of your life. Live your life but be careful with your life choices ....

I have plenty of life experiences, but I was stunned by the lack of commitment with the sex in the movie. Finally Daisy does marry, but to a "kind man" who apparently is boring, but will be a father to her daughter. Commitment as transaction.

Yes, I have long thought that life is a combination of what happens to you and what you do with it, but it doesn't take two and a half hours to tell that. It was a little like watching Bill Murray in "The Razor's Edge."
