Anthem Sports to Drop the "TNA" Moniker

TNA Wrestling No More — Company Makes Name Change
January 19, 2017 by Steve Carrier

Anthem Sports & Entertainment have made the decision to drop the name “TNA” and will be calling the product just Impact Wrestling moving forward.

The belief is that the name “TNA” has a negative connotation and Anthem wants to move away from that. Other slight changes are expected to be made as Anthem settles into the company as the new owners.

 This is a good start. "TNA" was a bad name for the company to start with. "Impact" is a much better name to use. I'm glad to hear that Anthem wants to try to revamp the company. I hope the changes in mind are really good ones and can get TNA,I mean Impact, back into a viable product again.

They should ask the fans first.

The new logo is terrible.

They can solicit input from the fans (like put out 3 choices and let the fans vote on which one is the best) but other than that, the fans should have no say in terms of the name change. Impact Wrestling is fine. TNA needs to be rebranded as Anthem is correct, TNA does have a negative connotation to it these days.

Soliciting fan input would be a great idea for a contest. Especially for the logo. Have talented artists submit their artwork and Anthem Sports could pick up to 5 that they think are the best. Then let the fans vote on their favorite. It could be a great promotional idea to get people interested in the changes coming to TNA.

But,I really do agree that Anthem does not have to ask for our approval. I'm sure if they did ask the fans, the majority would be fine with "Impact Wrestling" & removing the TNA name completely. People have been highly skeptical of the usage of those three letters since it first debuted. Dixie has made the perception of that name worse in recent years. Somehow Cezar refuses to see that.

If you're referring to the pic in the article; chill out, it's not the "new logo", it's just a cover photo. Disapproval from their fans is what got them in this mess in the first place, now's the time to gain them (and many more) back.

Anthem came to Impact's rescue, and now they want to rebuild. You should show some appreciation and optimism, Cheezar. No more: "This was all a work, TNA is fine just the way it is". The name should be more dignified. The "TNA" moniker was acceptable then cause shock value was still a thing in pro wrestling. We're far past that, and today it's more of a competitive nature. Like I've said: maybe this feud with the Hardys, the Young Bucks & Briscoes may lead to something for Impact (ROH and New Japan collaboration)?.

Impact wrestling isn't a bad name, it's probably not a good fit because Hogan and Bischoff started calling it that years ago as an alternate name. TNA has used that name ever since, it just wasn't permanent. If they really want to change their image while keeping the history, they should go for something else and phase out anything that will have them being perceived as the exact same company.

Reboot, restart or re-imagining is another word for remake

Impact Wrestling sounds much better than TNA.
