Well....Edie seems pretty awful..spoilers

Aside from all of her friends, I think she was the most unlikeable character in the entire series.

Angelo goes missing and her response to Micheal when he says they're going to look for him is "Now?"
And then tries to convince him to leave the kid alone because of her family issues when the kid clearly looks up to Michael as a stable and fatherly figure in his life. What?
And then freaks out on Michael when he says he can't move to New York because he has familial responsibilities? What?
Maybe she's so selfish with Micheal because she lives her life for everyone else, but I'm not buying what she's selling.

I'm kind of upset I watched all seven episodes.

I enjoyed the show and agree with people who say that the cityscapes are part of its appeal. Also loved some of the secondary characters, like Michael's roommate, his sister, and his lovely nephew. But I have to agree with you here. Edie was profoundly annoying. Not sure I can blame the actress (she seemed lovely), and I can understand why women (and men) who have been burned are reluctant to take a risk.

But seven episodes in, Michael was so head and shoulders above the previous boyfriend on the maturity meter that it just ticked me off after a while. The more she gets to know him the more she should see that he is solid gold in the most important ways. Edie is a well-meaning character, too. But Michael seems to have a much clearer sense of who he is, even if he's confused about what he wants. Edie's character seems to be drifting, with a less developed sense of self.

Anyway, I thought it was entertaining. A less than fully satisfying result, but I'm not surprised it didn't go past seven episodes. There's only so much hesitation over commitment that you can write (or watch) before it becomes repetitive and people lose patience.
