Stone/Garcia

Some people don't like the series really, but it's for sure a must see. You may find it unreal or you may think there's too much controversy going on but it does not say everything you see is true in this series, it just gives you hints about the unspoken truth. I have seen lots of series but really don't remember such tension going on in a tv series. And the famous actors/actresses..... Sharon Stone is the wife of a villian (she is also a villian!!) ... and the man is Andy Garcia himself... I still think there may be a surprise in the last episodes or in the movie... might not be Al Pacino but maybe someone like him...?

Remember Godfather III ?
Remember the last "Don Vittore Carleone", the nephew , the last Godfather ?

The first episode that Garcia plays in was aired tonight.

The study room of the "Baron of all Barons" was alike the Godfathers' traditional study room with the circular motive on the doors. Also the building, all Italian style and so on.

It is a shock to see "the Last of the Godfathers" in action again :)

However all other episodes have many rip-offs from other movies which are of high-quality and yet very little known by the general audience here in Turkey.

Such as:
-The conceil, with their masks and outfits are from the movie "Eyes Wide Shut" by Stanley Kubrick,
-Tonight's ship take-over scenes were just like the scenes from "Usual Suspects", without the burning of the ship. (They killed all man aboard violently but missed the real target)
(these are only a few)

There are absurd scenes and happenings in the series which makes the whole thing dumb:
- The virtual advertisement consept is rather odd and misused; e.g. a 100 or more inch satellite dish is on the top a tall building in L.A. and Polat Alemdar looks at it wondering
- They kill all man aboard a ship looking for a computer room in which lethal data is transffered to another location, sabotaging the connection comes to nobody's mind :)
- All of the episodes have over-violence and loss of temper that makes the characters look like street jerks more than heroes. Remember, heroes keep their temper low at all times and act violent only when needed !

In my opinion "Kurtlar Vadisi" is a big failure and a very bad production with low quality. Seems that all the advertisement renevue is not enough though ?

Focusing on action and episodal happenings makes the audience forget about the underlying story. For example, in the beginning Polat was a cop in charge of taking Cakir down. However after two years he confesses that he is a cop and all the fans of the series is shocked that he is a cop !

On the other hand the makers of the series seem also as violent as the movie characters; they have a legal warning just on the enterance page of their web site which is worth reading: "Any attempt to setup a fan website, fan forums or fan guest books without signing up on this web site is subject to prosecution by law" ???

Please visit www.kurtlarvadisi.com and see for yourself.

Gaining popularity is something but they should not offend their fans like that !

Koray,
Obviously you watch a lot of movies (like I do) and hence the reason you know about the rip-offs. I noticed them straightaway as you did and one that sticks to my mind is the scene where they feed a rival mafia member to wild pigs after rubbing raw flesh all over his clothes to make him smell and attract the wild pigs (original scene in the 2nd movie of the Silence of the Lambs). However I do not agree with all of your criticisms. Yes the plot had big gaping holes but nevertheless for a series made in Turkey I do believe that it was above average and worh watching at all times. It also knew how to keep the excitement flowing until the very end. It was after all made for a Turkish audience and hence the reason why the characters lost their temper easily and over reacted (in general this is how Turkish male population is perceived and expects its heroes to react so the makers were deliberate in their depiction of the male population to satisfy Turkish viewers).

I do believe for all its weaknesses it was an outstanding success.
By the way, I do not believe Polat Alemdar was ever a cop with an assignment to bring Cakir down. He was an undercover secret agent with an explicit mission of bringing the entire Turkish mafia to an end.

I also have a question to everyone that watched the series.
What happened to the character that appeared previously and killed few of Polat's men (Tilki Andre)? I do not remember if Polat ever caught up with him and took revenge for killing his men.

Thanks for that but thats a forum, I have to become a member to log in and even if I did I would have to search the whole forum. Isnt there any other website thats more official, I mean IMDB has shows all of Sharon Stones films even when she was just an extra on a train in her first film but still does not mention about Kurtlar Vadisi.

Why don't you check now?

IMDB needs input from its users else it would never get updated.

IMDB now has added Kurtlar Vadisi to both StonE's and Garcia's profiles - but you have to check TV appearances further down below on their respective pages.
