What do you think Charlie did at the end?

Did he:

Kill himself
Wait for someone to come and arrest/kill him
Run away

Ran away and started a new life for himself. Somewhere out there in Australia is an everyday family who have no idea what their great-great-great-grandfather did.

Probably ran off into the outback and started a new life, without the law chasing him or the burden of having a psychopathic brother as a ball and chain around his ankle.

I doubt he'd survive the outback. The Aborigines nearly killed him the last time he was out travelling on his own, and the only reason he survived was because of his brother, and the few people loyal to Arthur Burns that ambushed the unfriendly Aborigines healed Charlie's wound with their medicine. Alone, Charlie is doomed in the outback.

I think he concedes to be arrested when in the end he tells Stanley "I'l be with me brother", implying that he is waiting for Stanley.
