The Yellow Bastard from 'Sin City' could have called this movie home

Per Cracked's "Five Annoying Trends That Make Every Movie Look The Same", this has to be the yellowest movie ever made. Following that paint-by-numbers convention, all "desert" movies are subject to a yellow filter nowadays. Which, in the case of "The Preposition, results in everybody and everything in it looking like they were dipped in curry. The garish palette made immersion impossible

Ehh..I don't think it's that bad at all - and not even yellow, but brownish-tan..it is a western after-all...

Check your TV settings buddy, looks good/fine on my 50in panny plasma...

reply

Nah, it's yellow post-processed dreck.

What other desert films are you comparing this to?

I didn't feel overwhelmed by the 'yellowness'... have you been to Australia? It's pretty much that colour...

reply

Er, when indoor scenes are yellow saturated, you know it's overdone.

Btw, the better your screen, the worse it looks.

As far as desert pictures go, compare the vibrant colors of Lawrence of Arabia and The Searchers. This film's filtered color palette was garbage.

reply

Sorry, I was trying to ask what other films do you think have over used the yellow saturation desert effect?

reply

I wasn't particularly happy to see yellow color-grading in "Mad Max: Fury Road", but at least they had it turned off half the time.

Wtf are you talking about ????
This film is brilliant on many levels

Don't feed the horrible troll.
Let's just walk away with our delight.

The OP's clearly never been in the Australian outback in summer time. And his comments contrasting this film with Lawrence of Arabia and The Searchers are just daft.🐭
