The Dish, The Bank, Lantana, Kokoda, The Square, The Hunter, Red Dog, and Mystery Road are some of my more recent favourites. I also think Baz Luhrmann's Australian made version of The Great Gatsby is better than previous versions.🐭

reply

Picnic at Hanging Rock is one of my favorites that was filmed in Australia.

thank you

I love aussie movies so if you return to the thread here's a short list I posted on another aussie film board this morning

Wish You Were Here
In Her Skin (aka I Am You)
Alexandra's Project
Bad Boy Bubby
Japanese Story
Backtrack (I havent seen all of ths yet)
The Tunnel
Rabbit Proof Fence
Romper Stomper
The Preposition as already mentioned
Jon Doe (have not seen but heard good things)
The Horseman (2008)

That'll do for now.

If you need something a bit lighter when you get through those

Red Dog.

Are you still looking for more recommendations? Also wondering, how many of the films people listed did you manage to watch? And what did you think of each film? I ask so I can get a good idea what additional films I should mention (if you're still looking). Also, feel free to ask about films from any other country if you want, or specific film genres or directors or actors (I'm a bit of a cinephile, I love films from all over the world, and I'm usually happy to discuss them with people).
