One of the most beautiful films I've ever had the privilege to behold...

I just finished this gem of a film about an hour ago.

I can't even give a thorough review for being so floored, and moved.

A truly beautiful piece of art.

I agree. I've seen it 3 times now, and enjoyed it greatly each time. Too bad the box office doesn't reflect the great performances. Sweet story.

One of the loveliest movies ever made. Quite simply put: it was a romance of epic proportions...a romance because it embraced friendship with the same tenderness usually reserved for couples in love. But when you think of it, Ludo and Mrs Palfrey did love one another, just not that way. Companionship of those adrift in a world neither can fully call their own. They're both lonely souls who find each other at just the right time and, subsequently, save each other. They accept each other for who the other is, without wanting to change the other. Well, perhaps that's not quite true. Mrs P wants Ludo to find a love as great as the one she experienced and encourages it when it happens.

I love this movie beyond mere words typed here on this page. I love it for all that it shows that GOOD MOVIES CAN STILL BE MADE and loved by fans. For every bang bang shoot 'em up that's made, there should be a Mrs Palfrey in there somewhere, too.

I've just seen this for the first time. It really is lovely. My favourite scene is when Ludo suddenly breaks into that song For All We Know. Mrs P. is convinced that he will not know it because of his tender years. She mouths the words and sheds tears as he sings the song word-perfect. It's a beautiful song which is reprised at the end by Rosemary Clooney. Absolute magic.
