Really? Quelle crime! Except Elizabeth Taylor, the author, wrote it in the 1970s.

Shakespeare said that there were only six plots possible, and he used them all. History might show otherwise but his point was well made. I see a lot of films of all genres. If a film is good, does it matter what it took to get to that point? There is such a dearth of originality in anything created today, whether in fashion, advertising, etc., but in the search for the NEW, precious things can be lost. Just sayin'.

As others have stated, Mrs. Palfrey at The Calremont precedes that 1996 Besos en la frente movie by 25 years since the book it's based on, also titled Mrs. Palfrey at The Claremont, was published in 1971. Also, that same year a play version aired on the BBC. So it's more likely that Carlos Galettini was possibly inspired by the original novel and the teleplay for his own movie, not the other way around.
