What was the deal with the Mecha-Nephilim?

It was a pretty cool effect, but it made no sense at all.

You mean the "effigy" thing? I wondered that too. It looked great striding along, but the scenes of the old priest holding the "reins" just struck me kind of funny. In fact I thought he was a detriment to the whole movie.

I actually liked the Mecha-Nephilim, however it didn't really have a back-story...it was an interesting original idea though, never seen anything like it. I also liked that the giant turned into lots of little mummies, that was pretty original as well. Too bad the story lacked a bit.
