Last night THAT's what it's about
No disrespect to the couple in Bath the other week, but the programme should not really be about people with unlimited funds who are ultimately going to laugh and throw more cash at any and all problems (even total disasters) that crop up, and who remain cagey about the final total spent.
By contrast, last night's 'revisited' programme, an update of a three-year-old one I must have missed, was EXACTLY what GD should be all about. These two didn't have a pot2pissin, just masses of determination and skill, a staggering work ethic (how old were these people?!) and lots of great friends and family who have, I trust, earned themselves a timeshare in Italy for the rest of their lives.
Lovely people, a lovely concept and an absolutely fabulous end result. Kevin had for once absolutely genuine doubts – as did we at home – and the Italian system of planning permission and building regs (mad, mad, chaotic, non-existent and did I say mad? I love Italy!) just added to the fun.
Great TV. And all power to people with vision and spirit :-]
