Subtleties are well crafted

There are lots of subtleties that are recognizable upon repeated viewings. When Max first meets Luke, he walks out with a red rag. When we first see Michele, she is carrying the same red rag. (Ewww, what's on that rag?)

When Luke goes to Michele's house after their first date, he asks Max to apoligize to Michele for him. I couldn't understand at first why Max was so angry. Well he was angry AT Luke AS Michele for running out on him/her.

When Luke bad mouthes Max to Michele, Michele is so hurt, because he's actually dissing HER. Max/Michele are comepletely comfortable being a "Z" and reacts and responds to others always as the same one person.

I also love how the viewer can see Max showing his interest in Luke at their first scene and at the hockey practice. It makes Michele's speech to Luka when she catches her trying to have sex with male Sydney all the more sense. All about how important it is to just embrace who you are.

One question? I would have liked a clarification how Michele kept her relationship with Winthrop in New York. She would have changed gender after each orgasm. How would she explain THAT to him. Perhaps she NEVER orgasmed with him. It's probably easier for a woman to control that during sex than a man.

Or maybe Winthrop simply learned to accept it, just as Keenan and Janine quickly learned to accept Luke/Luca. Janine in particular liked the idea of having a new girlfriend in Luca.
