In the end when they were having all that sex and changing back and forth between max and michelle, and luke and luca, there were some scenes where it was max and luke together and michelle and luca together. I thought they could only change gender when they had sex with another zerophilia (thats what sydney said) so if thats true then they would both change when they had sex, it would always be one boy one girl. And also in the end michelle was hugging luke, and he asked if she was worried about him running off, she said yeah, and then he asked if she wanted a gender prenup. Insinuating that they couldn't be two guys and two girls. Am I seeing this all wrong on the the film people make a mistake. Just wondering.

yeah all of that really confused me too. it didn't seem like they were really sticking to their "science of zerophilia." my brother, who's also seen the film suggested it was sometimes the 2 boys, then the 2 girls together because maybe one of them hadn't orgasmed during sex. if they're are always going to keep switching, that seems like it's going to get pretty tiring fast.

and, i didn't really get why they were having that "gener prenup" conversation at the end either....

...oh well. it doesn't really make sense, but i like it anyway.

I don't think they were ever really the same sex at the same time - it was just the director doing a morphing technique to tell the audience that both characters were comfortable with their unique sexuality. ie. they weren't worried about each others physical appearance any more. The only thing that mattered was the way they felt about each other.

When I say morphing technique, I don't mean literally - There were 4 actors involved!

I completely agree. When they were both the same gender, they actually were never touching each other, so I feel it was just the film maker making a statement that at that point they weren't hung up on gender and loved the complete package that the object of desire represented. Gay, bi, and straight no longer have relevance as labels. A TRUE utopia!

From my interpretation Max and Luke must of had sex (anal); however, the scene with both Michelle and Luca didn't really make since unless they used manual stimulation to morph back.

the most likely occurance would be that one assisted in the others orgasm which would ultimate lead to one individual staying the same while the other changed.

p.s. Or, the director really messed up and didn't think people would think to question that.

they change when they orgasm not when they have sex. thats why they could change when masterbating.

Do you and your partner orgasm together everytime. even during oral.
The montage in the loft was to help illustrate the movies main theme. Love knows no gender. or you love a person not thier gender.

Once Luke knew Max and Michelle were one in the same. He could love both of them and was not restricted by sexual orientation. Michelle/Max already learned that lesson and thats why she was mad after Luke slept with Sydney.
Not because he cheated but because he thought he could fix something that didn't need fixing. Max was attracted to both Luka and Luke and Michelle knew Luka on sight.

Look at the early scenes with Max and Luke. CHEMISTRY!!!

I think that the scences in the end where there was the two guys and then the two girls was just the director proving a point. I think they do switch back and forth gender each time. I don't think there was necessarily any time where they were the same sex at once.

Also, the gender prenup, as I took it, meant that Luke couldn't bail on Michelle like she'd been bailed on before. They were going to be together so that they could switch genders when they wanted.

i think it also has something to do with her/his job and such. michelle is a guy at work but seems to b more comfortable as a girl...either way, if he bails...shes sorta SOL

If one of them masturbated, they would both be the same gender--until one of them masturbated again. Just think of the possibilities!

See, that's what I thought too, but eariler in the movie the older Doctor person that tricked him into sleeping with her to change said the only way to change back was to have sex with a nother zerophiliac, so that's what made me think that they made a mistake in those scenes.

I see your point, ziggy. I figured Dr. Sydney just made that up to get him to have sex with her. But if she could have masturbated or had sex with someone else to change genders, why bother pursuing Luke? And if they did have to have sex with another zerophiliac to change genders, how to explain Michelle's transformation in the shower, or Luke's solo transformations in his bedroom?

I can only conclude that there are some holes or inconsistencies in the story.

So many movies, so little time...

don't people listen to the movie. You change genders any time you orgasm, unless you have sex with another z, in which case your gender is locked forever unless you have sex with another z. Thats why the doctor was stuck being a guy. Michelle, never having sex with a z can switch back and forth with just masturbation.

At the end, they can only switch be having sex with each other.

I understand all that, my question was why, at the end of the movie after each of them have already had sex with z's, there are some scenes during the sex sequence, they are both men or both women at the same time (usually seen just talking to each other). Which according to what you have said is impossible, I wanted to know why they are pictured together if it should techinally be impossible.

you only change if you have an organism. so if max and luca do it and luca doesnt organsm, then you will have michelle and luca, and so on and so forth.

Not really. Now that they slept with a "Z" they locked and could only change back with sex with a "Z". Otherwise Sydney would have been able to change back to a male by herself, and we know that's not true because she needed to trick Luke into sleeping with her.

No, no, no. You've all got little pieces of the puzzle and need to fit them all together.

Sydney (the doctor) says that a "newbie" Zerophiliac can morph by him/herself just by having an orgasm. But, when a Z has sex with another Z, they change and then stay that way. Simple orgasm with non-Zs or through masturbation won't cause the change.

That is why Luca needed to have Sydney have sex with her.

Apparently Michelle/Max had never had sex with a Z before and therefore could still change though masturbation. Once he/she did it with Luca/Luke, he/she was now stuck in whatever gender she was most recently.

As for both characters being the same gender at the same time, maybe one character just takes a little more time to change than the other. We all know that women generally take longer to orgasm than men.

And, on some occasions, orgasm for one partner doesn't happen and they won't change.

And nowhere did Sydney says that Z-to-Z sex had to be male-to-female penetration. It could be gay sex or oral sex. In those cases, maybe only one partner orgasms.

It would be a real partnership if you always needed your partner to be able to change genders.

And, of course, that is what the gender pre-nup was all about. They were agreeing that if they ever split up, they would each leave the relationship with the gender of their choice.

Yeah that makes sense...I love how they both love each other though...and it's regardless of their genders! God I sound like a dork but yeah...I love the message that came across.
Hmm...do you think they'd do a sequel? I kinda want one!

Yes, gay sex would work, because that's the only way Sydney could have become a woman. Sydney before becomeing a woman, HAD to be a MAN. To LOCK as a WOMAN, he had to have sex with a "Z" as a MAN. For it to work, he had to be INTO it, therefore Sydney had sex with a "Z" MAN as a MAN. So it was GAY SEX! (Sounds like an SAT math question. The TRIG joke was so relevant!

The gay sex would totally work. After all, that's how Sydney LOCKED as a WOMAN. Think about it, Sydney was a MAN before and to LOCK as a WOMAN had to sleep as a "Z". To work, both parties have to be INTO it. So Sydney as a MAN would have had to have slept with a "Z" MAN. It sounds like an SAT math question which makes the trig joke so perfect.

I was wondering that too when they were both guys in the same scene. I think its because one climaxed while the other didn't. This doesn't mean they had sex with each other as men though. Only Luke was set in to where he had to have sex with another z to change. Max wasn't set in (as we see in the shower scene) so he could pleasure himself in change. Thats the only way I can see it making sense in my mind unless they were having gay sex or the scene just made it look like they were both men at the same time... Any thoughts?

Well, I'm sure they don't consider it to be gay sex or straight sex anymore. It's just sex between two people that love each other and happen to change genders often.

Besides, what would they do if they were having male-female sex and one of them had an orgasm and the other didn't? Only one would change and they've be stuck as the same gender. If they were prudes that were opposed to same-gender sex, they'd be stuck in their current form forever, ignoring the gift of change that God gave them.

Also, Z's aren't really male or female anyway. If you had some kind of religious revulsion to having sex with a man, for example, you'd have to become a man and stay that way. But, in order to become a man in the first place, you'd have had to be a woman that had sex with a male Z. Oops!

No. If you are a Z and figure out what is going on, you'll need to throw off the shackles of prudishness and learn to love sex with either gender. If you don't, you'll be very unhappy for your whole life.
