this is the worst proposed concept for a movie I have ever read

um . . . . . . . 'kay.

It's actually a really smart script, and a good setup for character conflict.
It's technically a romantic comedy where the guy likes the girl, but grows breasts whenever he's around her and doesn't know how to explain it to her or himself. The characters are well developed, and exist in this farcical world that's a little off the beaten path. I found it a very original and thoughtful script, and think we did a good job of bringing it to the screen (whenever that may be...)

reply

Yes, I agree it does sound interesting. I was curious if the guy transforms into a girl who is then played by a different actress, or does the actor play the role in drag as a female?

reply

Different actors play the male and female versions of the character.

reply

Cool. I guess my next question would be is does the female character have all the memories of her male self or is it a separate character? Also, when is this movie scheduled for release? Thanks!

I read a couple pages of the script and basically Luke's body changes from male to female and back again. Mentally he is the same person and the story is him trying to come to grip with his duel gender identity while having a relationship with a young woman.

reply

I think it's a cool idea, and I can relate to the whole gender-identity-crisis thing that it embodies. I note that there haven't been many updates to this board in some months, so I hope I'll get a chance to see the movie at some point.

I saw the film yesterday at Breckinridge. It was very shallow sometimes, seeming to be under the impression that males always act one way, and girls always act another, but in a way, it redeemed itself by pointing out that that's really not true. It was humorous enough. *** movie, perhaps.

reply

I don't think it's too weird of an concept. Didn't as a teenager ever have one of those discussions of what would you do if you woke up a girl?

It also kind of throws the whole "It's what's inside that counts." arguement right in the forefront. What about if it was a sci-fi movie where the man gets in an accident and doctors put his brain in a woman?

I think it's a soft way of making people think those what if scenarios.

The concept is actually somewhat interesting. Too bad the overall production of the film including direction, acting, effects, budget and script cause it to turn into a bit of a stinker.

It would be interesting to see what someone could do with the same concept on a larger budget. Imagine Rick Baker or another great make up effects artist creating the transformation effects (though they'd be mostly CGI).

Yeah, I agree. This was easily one of the worst films I've seen all year. Just...really bad, everything.

I thought it was a very clever and humorous concept for a movie, actually.

I honestly thought it was cute, fun, and more than a little bit touching.
