Better then training day

This movie very underrated and people think it's not comparable to training day but it's better

reply

Comparable? Yeah ... Better than? Nah ... Denzel's performance in Training Day blows everyone's performance in Street Kings out the water. Still a decent movie though...

I think it's much better than Training Day. That's a decent film, with a couple of performances stronger than anything in this film that carry it along, but ultimately I got pretty sick of it after a time or two. I've seen Street Kings I think three times now, and it never loses any of its impact.

i have seen it more than that (i would estimate i have seen it 4-5 times) and it holds steady for me to.

it's within my Top 84 movies simply because there are only 84 movies i gave a SOLID 8/10 or higher to and Street Kings is one of them.

p.s. since i been keeping a log of all movies i have seen, which is Dec 27th 2011 to date, i have seen Street Kings twice which was on March 15th 2013 and just now on March 13th 2016. so given this info i can get a pretty close estimate on how many times i have seen Street Kings as that 4-5 estimate has to be very close if not exact as i would figure i have seen it back in 2008 once and then probably at least one more time between then and when i started keeping a log which means the 4+ figure is very likely the minimum amount of times i have seen Street Kings. but i would say 4-5 times is likely correct.

That's [Training Day] a decent film, with a couple of performances stronger than anything in this film that carry it along, but ultimately I got pretty sick of it after a time or two.

while i agreed with you that Street Kings holds steady on re-watches, i would disagree with this quote above as Training Day holds strong on re-watches to as it's easily Denzel's #1 movie/performance.

it's hard to say how many times i have seen Training Day but it's pretty safe to say i have seen it more than 5 times on the conservative side of things as if i had to guess i would say i have seen it close to 10 times or so.

p.s. but since Dec 27th 2011 to date i have seen it twice which was on... Nov 6th 2012 and July 26th 2015.

I consider Street Kings very well edited and have a perfect pace. All the mechanics of a script are there. This film is a writing lesson, nothing less !!

-Training Day (2001) - 10/10 (which makes it within my Top 17 movies)
-Street Kings (2008) - 8/10 (which makes it within my Top 84 movies)

i just finished re-watching Street Kings just now and it held steady. i have a feeling people dis this because for whatever reason people seem to over-dis Keanu Reeves as he's not as bad as people say as i think he's good in certain movies/roles and this is one of those movies/roles he's good in.

with that said... i think it's underrated but i think it's largely because many on IMDb seem to dislike Keanu Reeves as i think if you had the same movie with another actor it's average rating would likely be into the 7.x/10 range instead of it's current 6.8/10 average.

The only reason I say it's a Hair Better than Training Day is because how underrated it was. They're really even but I give SKs the nod only because it's underrated.

reply

Some of the same people who made SK also made Training Day. Hell, I think the script was helped worked on by the guy who wrote LA Confidential.

reply

David Ayer was the script writer for Training Day and both writer and director for Street Kings.

I definitely like this movie more. The action scenes are better ans I like Keanu Reeves more thab Denzel. It just seemed more realistic overall.
