Inspired by BJ + the Bear

Well, I'm an 80's kid so can just about remember this show. For those who are unaware it was about a guy and "his best friend, Bear", who incidentally was a chimpanzee.

I got to hear the theme tune again recently and was struck by how similar it is to the one in Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. Not only that, but the lyrics are almost identical too.

Max and Paddy's Road To Nowhere (2004)

Don't know where we're goin',
Got no way of knowin',
Drivin' on the road to nowhere.
Spongin' for a livin',
Checkin' out the women,
Ridin' on the road to nowhere.
And we don't take *beep* from anyone,
The only thing we wanna do is have some fun,
We're Max and Paddy,
Paddy and Max(!)
And best of all we don't pay council tax.

BJ and the Bear (1979)

Hey there where ya goin',
Not exactly knowin'
Who says you have to call just one place home.
He's goin' everywhere,
He's B.J. McKay and his best friend Bear.
He just keeps on movin', Ladies keep improvin'
Every day is better than the last.

New dreams and better scenes,
And best of all I don't pay property tax.
Rollin' down to Dallas,
My wheels providin' my palace,
Off to New Orleans or who knows where.
Places new and ladies, too,
I'm B.J. McKay and this is my best friend Bear.

He's goin' everywhere,
He's B.J. McKay and his best friend Bear.
He just keeps on movin',
Ladies keep improvin'
Every day is better than the last

"I don't agree with that in the workplace."
