What the hell happened at the end there? after the quake when it turns from black & white to color. We see the parents protecting their real child. But what is up with the father's hand?

The father got fired from work or rather injured his hand at work. That's why he can't work, consequently his family got poor.
One thing that confuses me, is during the quake, the dead body opens her eyes. Also the morgue worker was standing in water, but he survived.
Koalas are telepathic. Plus, they control the weather.
The morgue worker survived because he was wearing shoes.

Any theory on the corpse's eye opening? I still can't figure this out. I thought it meant there were supernatural elements to the story but it doesn't seem to make sense.
