Introduced Herefords to Argentina?

This is one of these knit-picking questions which has little to do with this excellent film (like the question of what proportion of those who perished in the Malvinas war were Patagonians!). Seeing as so many Welsh emigrated to Patagonia in the 19th century to rear cattle, and Herefords are the prime beef breed in Wales, it is hard to believe that they were introduced by the Frenchman. Perhaps originally in the script, it was "Charolais", a French beef breed.

The Argentine Hereford Association is celebrating 150 years of the Hereford breed in Argentinia in April 2009. Her father would have had to have been ancient. I think they got the breed wrong in the film.
