the dog

Can anyone tell me what kind of dog Bombon is?

reply

It's a Dogo Argentino, a banned breed in the UK under the provisions of the Dangerous Dogs Act. They are however a much maligned breed, and are no worse in my opinion than many other powerful breeds.

reply

Yes, it doesn't make sense to me that they are banned in the U.K, especially as I read from sources that they are generally compatible with children because of their high pain tolerance... !

I'm gonna take this itty-bitty site by storm... I'm just gettin' warm.

Banning dogs is a stupid thing to do. There should be a licence to own certain breeds of dog instead. Many have a Rottweiler just because this breed is wary of strangers but they aren't enough experienced to control them so they can become very dangerous in public places. It is very important before you decide to adopt a dominant dog to see if you can control him or you will end up having a dog in your house who might kill a stranger should he think it's required.
Despite this there aren't dogs that are more dangerous than others, there are only dogs that are more dominant than others and these dogs shouldn't be owned by a first hand dog owner who can't discipline them.

the dangerous dog act 1991. bans the folowing breeds of dog.(which were pecicificly breed for dog fighting)

*pitbull terrier (note althogh its states pitbull terrier its actualuy only refers to the american pitbull terrier, all other pitbulls are allowed, althoght they dont recomend bringing amstaff, cuz of the difficulty telling amstaffs and apbt apart, practicly all the pitbulls here are stafordshire bull terriers, which germany tried to get banned in europe, but were stoped by the uk kennal club)(the breed registaries state that although dog-dog agression is allowed, human agression or extream shyness is a disqulifiction)

*dogo argintino (also known as the argintine dogo, or argintine mastiff) (although the breed originates from Dog of Cordoba, a dog now exticnt used for dog fighting, the dogo was breed to remove this dog-agression, as tehy needed to work with other dogs during the hunt, and the breed standered states dog agression and human agression is a fualt, this dog is very frienldy towards family and familyies friends)

*japanese tosa (aslo called the tosa-ken, or japanese fighting dog. unlike dog fight from the rest of the world, the fights were more along the likes of which dog could pin the other one down, and quite often the fight was stoped during the first sign of blood, and any dog that showed agression, was imediatly disqulified (this dog is quite tollerent of other animals like cats,

* flilla brasiliero (brazilian masstif, originaly breed for hunting, guarding, and bringing slaves back unharmed to their marsters, is very wary of strangers, and human agression is allowed, if not exsessive.

although thses dogs may be agressive, they are not likey to attack ubnprovoked (unprokoked includes uninetionaly)

owners of these breed were given a few months to register ther dogs.

which must be (microchiped, neutered, not be given away or sold ect, neutered, tattoed, insured. and leshed and muzzled in a public place)

any dog not registered afterward was to be destroyed

in 1997 the act was ammended, so that the court could had the dog to the exemted list rather then destroying it.

the act also alowed other breeds specificly breed for dog fighting to be banned.
(although there is no difiniton of dog fighting, so foxes being a species of dog, so dogs breed for fox hunting, like fox terrier, fox hound, amy also be thought of as dog fighting breeds

i think you should have to go through a test to get any animal.

ive seen rabbits that are vicous.

and that way people would no how to care for them proparly

they tested 100 breeds, their liklyness to bite som1:

the APBT came 4th

My parents own a Dogo Argentino, and he's one of the most gentle, sweet-natured, cuddly dogs I've ever met.
