Whiskey Romeo Zulu.....not only an outstanding film, but based on fact, and stars the actual person involved in the historical incidents.

I would recommend this director's previous film- Nine Queens; Son of the Bride( same leading actor as El Aura and 9 Queens), El Perro. One suggestion is to click on the lead actor i've mentioned- ricardo darin. he is argentinian. then click on his Filmography arranged by Ratings. Then research the best rated of his films, all or most of which are Argentinian. I gave El Aura a 10 and it is definitely the best of all the films I have mentioned above. Such a sadness that the director is dead.

Mingo & Anibal Contra los Fantasmas. You will love it.

I don't speak Spanish, but a pal recommended 'Son of the Bride' and when I liked it he suggested 'Nine Queens'. I picked up 'The Aura' because I recognized the actor and really liked his work. He is as powerful as Edward Norton or Johnny Depp, and I hope Ricardo Darin makes a U.S. film at some point. Anyway, I totally concur with your suggestions.

hoshino, another argentinian actor who seems to be highly regarded is federico luppi. he has 24 films rated above '6' on the imdb list of his films- arranged by 'film rating'. (do you know about this feature? it is very helpful when researching recommended films that are unknown to you. if you go to the 'home page' of an actor. look on the left side of the page. Under 'categorized' you will see 'by ratings' and that will list all that person's films beginning with those most highly rated and working down to the least highly rated.)I use this feature all the time to search out more films by an an actor or director i want to see more of.

Hombre Mirando al Sudeste is one of the best argentinian films, and i'd also recommend TL-1 Mi Reino por un platillo volador, it's one of the funniest argentinian films ive ever seen

One that I've had my eye on, but haven't gotten to see yet is La Pelicula del Rey (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089794/). If you see it, tell me how it was.

"Nueve Reinas" from the same director and actor as El Aura

"Cenizas del paraíso" and "Caballos Salvajes", two great films from Marcelo Piñeyro

There's an Argentine director, I think his name's Eliseo Subiela? Anyway, I've seen two good movies by him, taking place in Buenos Aires: "Man Facing Southeast" and "Don't Die Without Telling Me Where You're Going."

Plus good movies that take place in Buenos Aires, not by Argentine directors per se: "Apartment Zero," "Evita" and "Gilda."

la historia oficial is really good, as is la noche de los lapices, they both deal with ther dictatorship that ruled argentina from the 1970's
