After our protagonist accidently shot Dietrich, why didn't he get help immediately? He didn't know anything about him at that point and didn't even know if he was dead. His rifle could probably have been established as the one that shot the man, so getting away with the accident was probably not an option.

Then, later, what happened to Dietrich's body? Esteban seemed to already know it was gone, or he wouldn't have led the robbers to the shed for the tools.

The dog ate it, or so the taxidermist guesses.

I thought I saw him check the guys pulse and he had the motive of not confessing to manslaughter.

The dog is later seen with blood around its face, so agree he might have eaten some of the body ..
