so im new to the show but im guessing the families fall into two different categories.... the pathetic deadbeat do-nothings and the annoying little over-achievers. is that most of the eps?

pretty much but theres also

Christian vs non religious family (most of the time)
Family oriented vs workaholic parents that dont see their kids

and so on

It's a little less specific than that I think. Just two families that are complete and total opposites and very likely to piss each other off. That way they get their dramatic show.
