Is anybody else watching the WASP vs. ghetto family episode ??

OMG I haven't seen this show that often but I just stumbled on this episode where they get a rich, WASP, Massachussets-based mom to move in with a black family from harlem, and vice versa. OMG, this has to be one of the best episodes ever, the tension and awkwardness is unbelievable.

Well I also feel bad for the boston mom, they're pretty much ignoring her completely in that house. The harlem dad actually asked her to go get coffee BY HERSELF. Can you believe that ? She'd easily have been mugged, being the only white person in that neighborhood. It's pretty obvious that the harlem family is simply using this show to promote their son's rap career. I just wish they could be less rude to the boston mom.

This whole episode really bothered me. I was disgusted by the blatent racism toward both women.

I really did not like this episode one little bit. Its one thing to say things in the privacy of your own home or sterotype other cultures. Its another thing entirely to treat someone with that much disrespect if they are suppossed to be a guest in your home.

I love how the black family was mean to the boston mom, but they got all mad at her when she didn't know who Malcolm X was. I hate how they took her to the middle of the ghetto and then asked her to stand at a corner, deserted her, and went about their business. How incredibly rude !!

The white family only did marginally better in making the harlem mom feel at home. The kids pretty much just ignored her, much like the harlem kids ignored the boston mom. At least the boston dad tried to reach out to her by showing her a video of his marriage, although that seemed to be implying that he missed his wife and he wasn't having fun with the replacement.

I also don't like how the harlem mom tried to discipline the boston kids. Rude and uncalled for. But I applaud her for reaching out to the bullied daughter by doing her hair. Lol, I wonder how long the bullied daughter kept that ghetto hairdo.

All in all, what I learned from this episode was that the only way racial harmony can work is if BOTH parties bend over backwards to make other races feel comfortable around them. Learn to pardon their mistakes, and just be more lenient and tolerant around them.

One thing I WILL add is that there's a LOT of creative editing on these shows, and what was portrayed on this show might not be what really went down.

How could you not know who Malcom X was or at least heard of him? I'd be curious to know (it was never mentioned) if she knows of Jessie Jackson. I can't remember what state she was from, but they have a holiday for these guys and kids take the day off (white kids not just blacks) or should say get the day off from school. I mean my son asked who Malcom X was ( I said similar to Jessie Jackson) but a 30 or 40 year old adult should maybe know this.

I don't think the Boston dad tried to reach out to her at all. I think he was pretty rude, I mean he pretty much told her the cleaning that needed to be done and whatever but yet a housekeeper came in! How is that reaching out to her?
Plus those wicked stepsisters annoyed the hell out of me! I just wanted to slap them!

You're killing me and I'm already dead!!!

Newsflash, Kunny...there are plenty of Whites in today's Harlem.

What's your point ? The neighborhood did not look like a safe neighborhood. The boston mom even asked the harlem dad if they had any white neighbors and he pointed out there were no white people in that area.

It did not look like a "safe neighborhood"??? What the hell does that mean?
I also like how the threadstarter labled the black family, "the ghetto family"...The black family had every right to be frustrated with the woman for not knowing who Malcolm X was, it shows how inconsiderate and uninformed most of you are towards other peoples culture. I didn't see ANY racism coming from either family as some of you have claimed...except the cook out with the rich white folks, acting like they've never seen or talked to a black person before.

The "ghetto" family..real mature. The white woman was ignorant, and she lived in her owen little world, not knowing that there was a community filled with African Americans, she didnt even know who Malcolm x was. She was ignorant, and sterotypical. she felt sorry for them, but she couldnt understand that people didnt need a big house to make them happy. I was kinda glad when they left her in the park after the comment she made. The Father from Harlem, should have paid more attention to her.
