How famous is Jude supposed to be?

I asked this somewhere on The-N boards like YEARS ago and got a few responses. I know the show has been over for a while but I'm hoping some people see this post I still love this show.

Anyway....

I'm wondering: how famous was Jude supposed to be? Who can we compare her to? When I asked this a while back, people said Kelly Clarkson. I never thought Jude was THAT successful though because a few of her albums flopped. Maybe she is comparable to Kelly in that they both won the first season of talent competitions. But whose career would you compare Jude's to?

That's a really good question that I wondered about myself.

For one thing, I doubt she's as famous as Kelly Clarkson, because I assume K. Clarkson is known world-wide. Americans tend to have a more powerful presence than others.

I'd tend to think she wasn't very famous after her first album. Once her second album hit, it did amazingly well, and she became the shiny new thing in Canada. Her third album was a flop, but she had a really high-profile relationship and a couple of really high-profile incidents (Hunter and Megan). I'd assume, her third album remixed did amazingly well since it included the basement song and happened after the Megan thing.

I don't think she was really known well internationally, because she sounded pretty shocked that anyone in London (or anywhere else) would really want her and her tours almost seemed exclusively Canadian.
