Like a Christopher Guest film, but real!

I saw "Up For Grabs" at the Phoenix Film Festival, where it took away the best doc prize. I just ran across this film again and it looks like it found a distributor, and is being released in theatres! Glad to see it. It reminded me of a Christopher Guest mock-umentary, but it's real - lots of laughs and dynamic characters! "Up For Grabs" follows two men who are fighting over possession of Barry Bonds' #73 homerun ball. These characters are really exposed for who they are, inside and out. The ending couldn't have been better! But, I don't want to introduce any spoilers, so go see for yourself! Was anyone else lucky enough to this in its film festival run?

I didn't see it in phoenix, but then again, I just watched it myself in Tucson, AZ. It certainly had that quality to it. Popov seemed so fake and outrageous that it seemed like he was created in some demented screenwriter's head. Hayashi got kindof a bad rep, being described as this "sneaky" little guy and when he simply got a ball that Popov couldn't hold onto. That just goesto show what kind of people go to sporting events these days.

That is a perfect description of this movie! So many outrageous characters, and none made up. I especially liked the umpire that testified. Hilarious.

I got a humorous kinda feel over the dentist explaining to the woman about the home run ball and *beep* and her just nodding and responding "I need an appointment for next week" not really caring about the story at all.

Plus, his endorsement to that burger and him being like, "people say you should call it the #73 burger!", no one has said that ever dude.
